The Proposal, Anton Chekhov (March 15, 1975), directed by Jerzy Antczak

It is a fast-paced play of dialogue-based action and situational humour. A young man Lomov comes to propose to his neighbour Natalya but they keep on fighting over various topics.

The instances of irony in 'The Proposal' by Anton Chekhov include the ironic nature of the proposal turning into arguments, the triviality of the disputes overshadowing the proposal, and the ironic engagement that results from social pressure rather than love.

Tadeusz Fijewski, Jadwiga Barańska, Mieczysław Pawlikowski, Wanda Łuczycka i Tadeusz Cygler.
